Bungie Day 2008 A New, Free Map, Lower Priced Map Packs, and a Festive Playlist By: gapzi11a (Source: Xbox360Fanboy)
Lest you have no idea what Bungie Day is, that's Monday, July 7 (7/7, get it?). Yes, starting on July 7, Halo 3's newest map Cold Storage will be available on Xbox Live Marketplace absolutely free. Not only that, but Microsoft will also be lowering the price of the Legendary Map Pack from 800 Microsoft Points to 600 Microsoft Points. The best part of all is that these prices will become the permanent prices of the content. In other words, Cold Storage and the Legendary Map Pack price drop aren't part of the limited time, one day only Bungie Day goodies that will be on Marketplace. Joy!
In celebration of Bungie Day and the release of Cold Storage, a special 48-hour free for all playlist is going up. Specific details are sparse, but Bungie's Luke Smith promises that players will be able to control "Rockets, Invis and Snipe." Mmmm ... sounds nice and spammy. Finally, "one last thing" about Cold Storage is set to drop some time today on Bungie.net. Keep your eyes glued to X3F for whatever that may be.
Halo 4 Already In Development? To Be Announced At E3? By: gapzi11a (Source: SarcasticGamer)
At some point you’ll just have to trust us on some of this stuff. We have to protect our sources to keep them from being fragged by their employers or associates.
A very good and anonymous source tells us that Halo 4 is already in full development over at Bungie. I wish to God She/He/It had more details to share but at this point all She/He/It can confirm for sure is that Halo 4 is an official project being developed by Bungie, at this very moment.
With more than 20 million copies of Halo 3 sold worldwide, I know it’s a no-brainer that the series would continue somehow. It’s nice to get this sort of reassurance from a source who has never been wrong for us before.
If we get more details, we’ll share them. If She/He/It is wrong… They’ll be quietly disposed of.
*Update*
Now our source is really sticking her/his/its neck out.
As we told you earlier, our inside woman/man/thing got hold of some pretty exciting news.
News that Bungie was already hard at work developing what will be Halo 4.
Now we’re told that this will be announced officially at E3.
The prior news was probably like a weatherman predicting a hurricane “sometime somewhere.” This starts the ticking clock for what would end up being a pretty big deal.
2008 Spring Update The Unofficial List Of New Features Has Hit The Web By: gapzi11a (Source: Kotaku)
If Microsoft follows the same schedule it did last year, the Spring system update for the Xbox 360 should be right around the corner. Today, an alleged and wholly unconfirmed list of changes included in the "Q2 2008" update was sent to us, supposedly forwarded from an internal source. The full list—which is after the jump—features about 80 new feature additions, tweaks and changes but was purported to be incomplete and subject to change.
Some are simply interesting as curiosities, such as an option to purchase Xbox Live memberships for charities and the addition of a Media section for audio delivered through feeds, such as podcasts. Others sound more feature robust, such as Windows Live Mail integration and an expanded "Inside Xbox" with news, weather, entertainment, help and community features.
Perhaps the most interesting additions are "Calibration options for motion sensor devices" for the Dashboard and "Support for titles to store installation data on Storage Device for faster loading" for Games. If true, the former would lend further credibility to frequent rumors that Microsoft is planning to introduce a motion controller for the Xbox 360. The ability to store installation data on a hard drive—as is done with some PlayStation 3 games—would certainly be a welcome option, if that's how the wording should be interpreted. Continue on for the full list ...
Halo Nation Bungie Introduces Us To The Community By: gapzi11a (Source: Bungie)
In the coming weeks, we'll be introducing Bungie.net readers to some new Community groups and some old standbys as these groups bring their best files to the table to populate Bungie Favorites. Weeks ago, we solicited interest for inclusion in Bungie Favorites from various groups in the Community and steadily those submissions began trickling in. Each group will have two weeks of content on Bungie Favorites (each week being different selections from that group). Each group has also prepared a brief introduction and answered a handful of questions -- the group-penned introduction and brief Q&A are below. Week one of The Running Riot's contributions are live in Bungie Favorites now.

Running Riot
The Riot launched in July 15, 2007 ahead of the Halo 3 launch to prepare for the media onslaught from the Theater feature in the game. It was just me blogging on Halo news, posting Screenshots and Film Clips and doing a Podcast over XBL with friends joining in as guests. In January 2008, my Brother (InsaneFREAKBOY) and a friend (Eliteosx) joined the Riot as permanent Podcast Co-Hosts. The Running Riot has no "members". It is a site by fans, for the fans. It has a small community w...
